ABOUT
Dr. Robinette Dunahugh is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her love for all animals has been life long. She received her bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Iowa State University. She and her husband moved to Minnesota in 1996 living in the Southern Twin Cities Metro area. While working as a Biochemist in Gene chip technology, she continued to become more involved with animals volunteering as an obedience and puppy agility instructor at Bloomington Obedience Training Center and as an assistant at local veterinary hospitals. She decided to combine her passions for science, teaching and animals into her next career and returned to school at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2008. After Veterinary school, she worked briefly as a general practitioner and then moved to a larger referral emergency center. After years of emergency, she returned to general practice at River Valley Veterinary Service, where her passion for medicine, behavior and nutrition continued. She is Fear Free and low stress handling and restraint trained. She loves to get to know her patients and clients as individuals. She established Elite Pawz Veterinary Clinic to return to a customized care, patient comfort focus. She has been involved with BART, Basic Animal Rescue Training, in Minnesota helping to train first responders in animal emergencies. She has a passion for dog sports including conformation, herding, skijoring, pack hiking, agility and obedience. She breeds Samoyeds that compete at local and national levels. She is a member of the Samoyed Club of America and the Samoyed Association of Minneapolis-St Paul. Robinette, husband Scott, daughter Vivienne and multiple pets currently reside in Elko New Market, MN. Memberships: American Veterinary Medical Association Veterinary Emergency + Critical Care Society Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association - currently serving on the Governmental Affairs & the Small Animal Welfare committees.
